Nutrition
Nutritious eating starts with:
- Fresh vegetables
- Lean meat (or other sources of protein for vegetarians)
- Fruit
- Enjoying occasional treats
Weight Reduction
Set realistic goals when reducing body fat, for most people it is healthy to reduce by 1-2 lbs per week. If you lose more weight than this it may be from muscle and water loss- not a healthy situation.
Fallacies
- No pain, no gain
- You need to exercise everyday for an hour
- You need to be on a diet
- You can't drink any alcohol
Realities
- Enjoy fitness, have fun
- Start gently
- Slight discomfort in the muscles= your body is benefitting
- Sessions with a partner or trainer = double the fun and motivation
