Here's a taste of the Shaw Fitness philosophy - A healthy place for you to start developing a positive relationship with nutrition and fitness. A foundation for your wellbeing.

Nutrition
Nutritious eating starts with:

  • Fresh vegetables
  • Lean meat (or other sources of protein for vegetarians)
  • Fruit
  • Enjoying occasional treats


Weight Reduction
Set realistic goals when reducing body fat, for most people it is healthy to reduce by 1-2 lbs per week. If you lose more weight than this it may be from muscle and water loss- not a healthy situation.

Fallacies

  • No pain, no gain
  • You need to exercise everyday for an hour
  • You need to be on a diet
  • You can't drink any alcohol


Realities

  • Enjoy fitness, have fun
  • Start gently
  • Slight discomfort in the muscles= your body is benefitting
  • Sessions with a partner or trainer = double the fun and motivation
